Entry Description

HELLO HAUNTERS~!!! Welcome to The Haunted House on King~2011! ^^(-_-)^^ This is our low budget and recycled from halloweens past, house haunt. Year sevens budget went mostly to gluesticks, paint and zip ties :) OH!! and insulation foam. We had some great donations and were able to expand to the side yard. The big Scarecrow took 3 weeks to complete and a week of that time was just on the pumpkin head and knarly arms. Every haunted house should have a graveyard and because of some wonderful people, it was able to happen. The white picket fence added a little something, something and the front porch...er... parlour is ready for a viewing, COME ON UP!!! The spider webs are my usual first step, all spun by hand using white yarn. I started in early September...many, many hours and knots, but the effort is more than worth it! Thanks for checking us out and please rate our House Haunt. **Thought I would share some step by step photos of this years big project. For this project, Large Pumpkin Head, you will need a inflatable beachball, can of insulation foam, gloves, safety glasses, some water based paint, brushes and utily knife :) I had to do this twice and learned a valuable lesson... let the foam cure for about 24 to 48hrs before you deflat the beachball or else your pumpkin head form will shrink by 30% good news is that you get to reuse the beachball for another project. When fully cured, cut out your pumpkin face. Always cut away from you, safety first :D I would recommend leaving a couple parts of the mouth intact to help keep the foam form from distorting shape or sagging. Once your have your detail cuts complete your ready to paint! I used two washes of orange, dark over light and then drizzled a diluted green wash. Here the natural shape and folds in the foam gave easily to the effect I was looking for. Then I pulled out the tote of "possible halloween scraps" and hotglued some finishing touches. ** With the donation of the coffin, we made something extra scary to go inside :) Stay tuned and scare you later *** copy and paste link for google map of HYH2011 http://g.co/maps/ejm98
